Twitter Replaces “Favorites” with “Likes”

Much has been changed with Twitter since the time it started.  Just like Facebook and other social media sites, Twitter has experimented with features and other aspects of the platform.  The recent one isn’t a huge one but it has important implications nonetheless.  It has something to do with an icon that has been a common sight for Twitter users.  Starting today, Twitter has changed the “Favorites” button to a “Like” button.

In the process the start icon has been changed to a heart icon.  This move is not about Twitter trying to be unique.  Quite the opposite.  Twitter appears to be following what other apps and platforms are using to document the approval of other users.  Hearts are ubiquitous and with the recent change by Twitter, heart icons are starting to become universal icons for likes.
