OnePlus is a Chinese startup that wants to change the tech world. It has the mantra “Never Settle”, a promise to offer the perfect product for a cheap price. The company wants to prove to the public that cheap doesn’t have to mean inferior.
For months it has been actively hyping the One smartphone. Bit by bit, OnePlus revealed specs and features of the One, getting the public excited about the phone. During the build up, the image of actual phone was not revealed so a lot kept wondering if the One would turn out to be worthy of the hype. Recently, the OnePlus One has been revealed, including press photos that cover almost every angle of the phone.
Finally, the OnePlus One.
The main specs of the OnePlus One have been long been fed to the media, so we know that the OnePlus One packs a 5.5-inch 1080p IPS LCD panel, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 CPU, Adreno 330 GPU and 3GB of RAM. From these specs alone, the OnePlus One already beats most Android flagships. The other main specs of the One make it worthy to be called one of the best phones. The OnePlus One packs 3,100mAh battery, 13-megapixel f/2.0 camera with Sony Exmor IMX214 sensor, 5-megapixel wide-angle front camera, stereo speakers tuned by JBL and tri-microphone with noise cancellation. Add to this connectivity options like NFC, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and LTE.

If you carefully look at these specs, there is nothing else you can wish for in a smartphone. The best thing about the OnePlus One is the price. You will get these amazing specs for the price of US$299. That’s about Php13,000 in the Philippines. There are two variants, one with 16GB of internal storage and another with 64GB internal storage. The 16GB version is the one priced at $299 while the 64GB variant is priced at $349. This pricing is even better than the Nexus 5 which retails for $399 for the 16GB variant and $399 for the 64GB flavor.
As to design, the OnePlus looks great and is actually slim at only 8.9mm at its thickest. Towards the side, it is only 4.6mm thick. The OnePlus One comes with a lot of choices for the finish of the back cover so there’s room for customization. OnePlus One has many software tricks up its sleeve including SMS encryption, themes, app privacy guard, audio equalizer, file manager, enhanced camera app and gesture controls.
