The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus have yet to officially hit the Philippines but there are already rumors involving the iPhone 7, the next iteration of Apple’s iconic and wildly successful phone. The recent rumors or predictions come from analysts, specifically Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities and Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray. The opinions these analysts are seen to carry weight, and the predictions are based on existing facts or trends involving Apple.
So what are the analysts saying about the iPhone 7? In a nutshell, they are claiming that the iPhone 7 will undergo radical design changes.
NO HOME BUTTON
Analysts are saying that Apple will finally ditch the home button. We have seen the home button since the first iPhone so its removal will indeed be radical. The home button has been copied by Android makers so it is undoubtedly one of the key features of the iPhone. If iPhone 7 will feature a screen without a home button, that phone would look strange. However, an iPhone 7 without a home button is not impossible. The introduction of 3D Touch in the recent iPhones and the recent iPads makes it possible for Apple to make an iPhone 7 without a home button. What would happen to the fingerprint scanner, you ask? Analysts say that the fingerprint scanner will be transferred to the side of the phone.
The other major design change is the use of a sapphire display instead of glass. Sapphire is said to be tougher and more durable so this is a possibility for the iPhone 7. Sapphire display has been used by Apple on the Apple Watch so it’s not hard to imagine for Apple to continue the experiment with the iPhone 7.
IMPROVED BATTERY LIFE
The next major upgrade for the iPhone 7 is an improved battery. Whether Apple will use new technology to this or not is still up for speculation. Apple has been struggling with the battery life of its products but it has made some major improvements recently. To have a better battery on the iPhone 7 would indeed be a welcome change.
These iPhone 7 features are just speculations at this point. Nothing has been confirmed by Apple so it’s still unsure what the iPhone 7 will look like or what new features it will come with.
