Apple just introduced the iPhone 5c, an addition to the iPhone line-up that already includes the more powerful iPhone 5s and the existing iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s models. The rumors and leaks were spot on, correctly predicting that Apple would be unveiling an iPhone with plastic enclosure. The colors that were leaked were also spot on, which is not a surprise, really, considering that the sources are the manufacturing lines in China where a majority of iPhone parts are being manufactured or assembled.
In essence, the iPhone 5c is an iPhone 5 in a fresh, new enclosure. In stead of the metal casing, Apple replaced it with bright-colored plastic. Almost all of the internal hardware are the same, however. For main specs, the iPhone 5c offers the following:
Cameras: 1.2-megapixel front, 8-megapixel rear (3x video zoom)
Battery life: About same as previous iPhones
The iPhone 5c comes in blue, green, pink, yellow and white colors and will be available for a suggested retail price of $99 (US) for the 16GB model and $199 (US) for the 32GB model.
The iPhone 5c will also be available from the Apple Online Store. Apple also introduced iPhone 5c cases available in blue, green, pink, yellow, black and white. These cases will set you back $29 each. The iPhone 5c will be available in the US, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK first. Availability in other countries, including the Philippines, follows shortly afterwards.
