Google just announced two new phones under its Pixel brand.  You may be aware that Google has shifted strategies, leaving the Nexus products which prominently featured the manufacturer’s name, and opting for a Google-made Pixel devices.  The new Pixel phones are updates to last year’s offerings which were surprise hits, especially in the photography aspect.  This year, Google doubled down on the photography element and what’s surprising is that it did not follow the dual-camera trend, such as those featured in the iPhone X or the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.  Google chose to further improve the single-lens camera on its Pixel phones.

The new phones are called Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.  The first one is a 5-inch device manufactured by HTC, while the second is a 6-inch device made by LG.  The two separate manufacturers explain the difference in design elements but inside, the two phones are almost identical.  The Pixel 2 XL, it’s worth mentioning, is almost similar to the brilliantly designed LG V30.  Needless to say, it looks good.

The smaller Pixel 2 has a new look from the first Pixel phone but it has been improved in several ways.  For one, it now has dual front-facing speakers, IP67 water and dust resistance, 1080p OLED display and a faster Snapdragon 835 processor.  It also has a bigger 2700mAh battery.  The bigger Pixel 2 XL sports a 6-inch 2880×1440 pOLED display that is almost bezel-less like the LG V30.   It has the same specs as the Pixel 2, except for the battery size which is bigger at 3520mAh.
