With the announcement came the news that the first Android One phones in the country will come from the two most popular local brands – Cherry Mobile and MyPhone.  The Android One phones from the two local heavyweights are the Cherry Mobile One and the MyPhone Uno, both cheap phones that feature practically equal specs and features.

The Cherry Mobile One and the MyPhone Uno, being Android One phones, have the advantage of running an almost pure Android Lollipop experience.  In addition, updates are ready for download as soon as they become available.  This is like having a Nexus device to be honest.  At a much cheaper price.

As you have probably observed, the two phones are almost identical.  Apart from the design, the only difference is that the MyPhone Uno offers a smaller 4GB internal storage while the Cherry Mobile One has an 8GB internal storage.  That already tells you which one is better.  As to pricing, we have yet to get the official price of the MyPhone Uno.  If it turns out to be cheaper, then it has a fighting chance against the Cherry Mobile One.

Personally, the Cherry Mobile One is the more attractive option.  It has a sleeker design and has a bigger internal storage.  Even if the price of the MyPhone Uno turns out to be cheaper, I’d say the Cherry Mobile version is the better choice.  But that’s me.  What’s your pick?
