Facebook is Buying Oculus VR, Maker of Oculus Rift

Facebook is in a buying spree.  It has bought a lot of big companies in the past including Instagram and more recently, WhatsApp. We know that it shelled out $19 Billion on WhatsApp so its recent $2 Billion purchase, one that involves the maker of virtual reality platform Oculus Rift, is no longer surprising.

Mark Zuckerberg happily announced on Facebook that his company is acquiring Oculus VR for $2 billion in stock and cash.  The Oculus Rift is a head mounted device that lets users enter a virtual world.  The amazing potential of the Oculus Rift is simply something Mark Zuckerberg believes in.  It can be great in gaming and in a host of other applications.

Very recently, Sony has unveiled its own version of a virtual reality device called Project Morpheus.  If anything, this is a clear indication that virtual gaming is the next big thing.
