The lack of emoji support on Android was a cause for its users to envy those on the iOS platform. With the recent Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Update, Android users now have a similar support for emoji, albeit with fewer graphics available compared to iOS. The recent Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update enough number of Unicode 8 graphic fonts so the basic emojis are already available.
Apart from the addition of emojis, Android 6.0.1 introduced security patches and one of those is said to be about resolving a critical vulnerability that lets malicious code be executed when Android processes media files from email, web pages, or MMS.
Android 6.0.1 will initially be available on Nexus devices. Other devices may have to wait a while before getting emoji support.
