Samsung just released the Gear VR virtual reality headset. The Gear VR is a cheap window to any virtual reality with its affordable price of $99, or about Php4,500 in Philippine peso. Virtual reality has been long billed as the future of viewing and gaming experience and the Gear VR is Samsung’s early bet for this technology.
Powered by Oculus, the most prominent name in virtual reality technology, the Samsung Gear VR is compatible with Samsung smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge+. For now, these are the only phones that work with the Gear VR.
A gamepad called SteelSeries Stratus XL is also available if you want the complete gaming experience on the Samsung Gear VR. This, unfortunately, is sold separately.
The Samsung Gear VR is available in the US for now. For availability in international markets including the Philippines, you may have to wait for further announcements from Samsung.
