Digital music has always fared poorly against other standards. Listening to MP3, for instance, cannot compare to an experience with music on a CD. Neil Young is one of the ardent proponents of bringing high quality music to the masses with his Pono music project. What he aims to achieve is get a high-fidelity music player to consumers. Pono’s goal is to provide the best possible listening experience.
Pono Music was launched in Kickstarter today with a goal of $800,000. As of this writing, it has already reached the goal and the pledge is now at $1.2 Million. There are 34 more days to go so it’s going to be interesting to see Pono Music break some records in KickStarter. The Pono Player will be priced at $399 when it becomes available commercially but Kickstarter backers will get it for $300.
